Giving Up Your Fox Terrier
Rose City Fox Terrier Rescue’s primary goal is to rescue purebred Fox Terriers that are in animal shelters or that are at risk of abandonment, abuse, or euthanasia. We reserve our limited number of foster homes for these dogs.
Shelters and Rescues--Or Dogs in Immediate Need
If you are a SHELTER or a similar organization or if you know of a purebred Fox Terrier in immediate need or at risk, please contact us right away. Please include a picture of the dog if you can.
Rose City Fox Terrier Rescue will keep any Fox Terrier that we take into rescue for as long as it takes to find that "right" home for it. We spay and neuter all dogs before placement.
Individual Fox Terrier Owners
Depending on how many dogs we have in rescue at a given time, we may be able to take purebred Fox Terriers from individual owners. If you are the owner of a Wire Haired or Smooth Fox Terrier that you must give up for adoption, please read the steps you need to take below.
-
Click on the “Is It a Fox Terrier?” to confirm that your dog is a Fox Terrier.
-
If your dog is a purebred Fox Terrier or if you are not sure whether it is a Fox Terrier, contact us. Attach a photo to your email.
-
If appropriate, we will suggest training or other interventions for problems you are having with your Fox Terrier. This may allow your Fox Terrier to stay in your home.
-
If you and the Rose City Fox Terrier Rescue volunteer agree that the best solution is for your Fox Terrier to be re-home:

a. most often we will ask you to keep your Fox Terrier in your home while we look for an appropriate new home, or
b. if we have plenty of available foster space and the situation is dire, we may take on the responsibility of caring for
your dog and seeing that it gets into a good home.
Rose City Fox Terrier Rescue will keep any Fox Terrier that we take into rescue for as long as it takes to find that "right" home for it.
In both a and b above, you must be willing to sign over ownership to Rose City Fox Terrier Rescue. Rescue never "buys" a dog.
Rose City Fox Terrier Rescue volunteers know how to screen prospective adopters and know what questions to ask. This ensures your dog a good new home.
Rose City Fox Terrier Rescue is always in need of donations in order to feed, to provide veterinary care for, and to house dogs given up. It is helpful and greatly appreciated if the owner neuters or spays the dog or is willing to donate to Rescue for the dog's care.
